Beta-tester av Joost

Har blitt invitert til å bruke Joost™ i beta-peroden. Virker meget interessant. Følgende er hentet fra et forum på Joost:

It’s video on demand without having to download anything. I’m on a laptop with 60 gigs of HD space that’s already mostly used up by music and various movies and tv seasons that are cycling in and out. Youtube owns this niche because it barely has any competition. Youtube video quality is also shite, and most of the programs I’ve seen on Joost are better quality.

You have to remember that this is a beta, so it’s not going to have your local channels or thousands of small broadcasts. Personally, I like the idea of (eventually) being about to go to the Viacom (or Comedy Central, or whatever) channel, and being able to pick out an episode of South Park or Stella to watch right away without it taking up hard drive space or watching it muddied with artifacts and cut into pieces on Youtube. Imagine your friend comes over while you’re watching an episode of something, and they really like it and want to see more. Do you want to squint at a muddy picture on Youtube (if you happen to catch it before it’s taken down), or have a clean interface that lets you watch more episodes of that show right away?

Also, there’s no reason that Joost couldn’t support live TV streams in the future. It seems like you were expecting too much from a service that’s only been available in beta for a couple of months. From what I can tell, it already has niche channels. I’m in the US, so seeing content from other countries like Amsterdam on demand is interesting to me.

It’s global TV and user-created content (eventually, apparently) mashed into one program where you can search, rate, and chat about shows or channels without having to download anything besides the client program. I think the possibilities are very exciting.
